Lyon + Post Review #3--August 2016

I can't believe that summer is almost over! Tonight is back-to-school night at my daughter's school, then on Monday, she's going to be a 7th grader. Where does the time go?

I've been so busy at work that I haven't had an opportunity to blog for a while, so a big thanks to my sister for being a guest blogger this week. If you haven't had a chance to check out her blog post, stop over and see what cute pieces she got from LeTote.

This is my third (!) Lyon + Post blog for August. I've been striking out with them lately, but they do have some great pieces, so I'm going to keep trying them for now. There's no cost for the service or for shipping, so I'm not really out anything to keep trying the service.

If you're not familiar with Lyon + Post, here's the deal:

Add clothing to your "queue," from the closet of items that they have on their site, and the top 4 pieces in your queue will get sent to you. You have a week to try them on, and decide what you want to keep, then just ship the rest back in the prepaid envelope. After they receive your return, you are charged for what you keep, then the next 4 items in your queue are sent to you.

You can filter the closet by size, price, type of clothing, brand, etc. The prices of the clothing range from less than $50 all the way up to $350+. I limit my range to under $200, because I don't want to see things that I know I can't afford, and that I'll (of course) love.

If you'd like to give L+P a try, here's my referral link. You'll get $30 off your first purchase, and I'll get $30 off as well.

On to my third reveal for August:

1. Velvet by Graham & Spencer Paz dress--$189

This dress was 'meh,' especially for the price. It sort of had the texture of a chenille quilt and was very drapey, almost toga-like.

Verdict: Returned

2. Just Female Fly dress--$160

This actually was a pretty cute dress. I was afraid that, since it was white and unlined, that you may be able to see through it, but the material was thick enough that it wasn't see through. The only drawback was that is was a lot of fabric, to the point where it was pretty bulky. Since it was white, I figured that I would only really wear this in the summer, but because of the heaviness of the fabric, it really wouldn't be a good summer dress, so back it went.

Verdict: Returned

3. Sachin & Babi Janet tank--$118

4. AG Denim The Hailey Ex-Boyfriend Short--$148

I'm not really a fan of high-necked tops. I feel like I'm choking, but this was actually cute too. The fabric was a heavy knit, which really made it feel substantial and worth the price. There were laser cut holes all down the sides of the tank. It was a really cute detail, and the way they were cut accentuated your curves and were actually very flattering. However, with the cut outs all down the side, my bra was totally exposed. I wasn't sure if that was the point of the design or if I was supposed to wear a cami underneath it. But that was too many questions to ask for a $118 tank, so, back this went also.

Verdict: Returned

On to these shorts. I loved these shorts. They were so cute with the distressing and fit great. However, they were also $148. For shorts. So to try to talk myself out of them, I tried on my $30 denim shorts from The Gap to prove to myself I didn't need a pair of $148 shorts.

Same pose, so as to compare apples to apples.
The Gap shorts just didn't feel the same. So, I tried on the AG shorts again. Then I went to Google to try to find them for cheaper somewhere else.

I ended up finding a very similar (much less expensive) pair, also from AG Denim, on 6pm.com. Fingers crossed I like them just as much.

Verdict: Returned

The clothes in this shipment weren't awful, but I wasn't 100% in love either. I have another box coming for September, and then the rest of the pieces I have in my queue are all waitlisted, so I may take a break for a bit until there are more pieces that I like.

Happy shopping!
