I've been on the fence with my Lyon + Post boxes for a while, because my favorite pieces have been on the waitlist, and this month is no different. I was going to forego my boxes for a while, but since there's no cost to receive and ship the boxes, I thought I would keep trying.
On to my first box for September:
1. Sundry Sweater Knit Sweatpants--$121
When I first saw that these sweatpants were $121, I thought that there is NO WAY I'm going to buy $100 sweatpants! When I tried these on, however, oh.my.gosh, I was sold. They are a soft, cozy sweater knit material, and I can just see putting these on during cold fall evenings. Plus, they are dressy enough to wear out to run errands. I justified them as an early birthday present to myself.
Verdict--Kept
2. n:Philanthropy Christi Pant--$59.75
3. Amour Vert Angela Top--$98
I have been on the hunt for a slouchy pair of boyfriend jeans. I do have a pair in my queue that I have been patiently waiting to receive, but they have been waitlisted for months. These were my back-up to try. However, these were nowhere near slouchy jeans. They fit more like skinny jeans, but they had the wash of '80s acid wash jeans, complete with bleach splotches on the leg.I paired them with the Amour Vert shirt, which I got in a previous shipment in black. I wanted to try the white, because the cut of the shirt was flattering, but I just didn't need another black shirt. Unfortunately, it just didn't "wow" me.
Verdict--Both returned
4. Krisa Surplice Midi Dress--$138
When I first put on this dress, it reminded me of a '70s dress that you would wear to a disco. It sort of had that '70s polyester fabric feel. I do like midi dresses, but this one just looked a bit too matronly on me.Verdict--Returned
Well, I ran the gamut of the '70s and '80s in this box, from a disco dress to acid wash jeans. However, it was a complete surprise that I did find a cozy pair of sweats in this box. I have a feeling I'll get a lot of wear this fall and winter from them.
If you're not familiar with how Lyon + Post works, here's the scoop:
Add clothing to your "queue," from the closet of items that they have on their site, and the top 4 pieces in your queue will get sent to you. You have a week to try them on, and decide what you want to keep, then just ship the rest back in the prepaid envelope. After they receive your return, you are charged for what you keep, then the next 4 items in your queue are sent to you.
You can filter the closet by size, price, type of clothing, brand, etc. The prices of the clothing range from less than $50 all the way up to $350+. I limit my range to under $200, because I don't want to see things that I know I can't afford, and that I'll (of course) love.
If you'd like to give L+P a try, here's my referral link. You'll get $30 off your first purchase, and I'll get $30 off as well.
Happy Shopping!
