Stitch Fix #29 Review--September 2016

It's Stitch Fix #29 for me, and it's my birthday Fix! I mentioned in my note that I would be receiving this Fix on my birthday (yay!). I told my stylist that I was looking for something both "dressy sexy" and "casual sexy," because I wasn't sure what I would be doing for my birthday, so I wanted to be prepared. I also mentioned that I have been on the hunt for a pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans.

I was super excited to see what I got, but sadly for about the third month in a row, my Fix has been meh. :(

On to my birthday Fix:

1. Kut From the Kloth Kate Boyfriend Jean--$88

So, granted I did ask for a pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans, but I had gotten a pair of KFTK Kate distressed boyfriend jeans a few Fixes back, so I was a little disappointed to see another pair of Kate jeans. Plus, this light washed color reminds me way too much of the '80s. If you recall, one of my previous Lyon + Post boxes had a very similar light washed color that I sent back.

Verdict: Returned

2. Aidan Kiya Off Shoulder Crepe Dress--$188

The wind blew right when I took this photo, so part of the ruffle flew up. It doesn't actually have a cut-out area there.
I suppose this is to be my "dressy" sexy request. Unfortunately, this wasn't really what I had in mind. This dress is really well-constructed and heavy. If I was going to a wedding, I would have considered this, but it was leaning too far on the too fancy side and not sexy enough for what I had in mind for a sexy birthday look.

Verdict: Returned

3. Fun2Fun Elspeth Back Cutout Detail Blouse--$48

I liked the color of this blouse, and considered keeping it, but I wasn't 100% in love with it. I feel like I've gotten a lot of various poly blend shirts from Stitch Fix that I really couldn't justify keeping another one.

Verdict: Returned

4. Brixon Ivy Berwick Halter Blouse--$68

This was another blouse that wasn't bad. It was actually pretty cute, but it's the end of summer, and I really wouldn't get too much wear out of it this year. And there was just something about it that wasn't speaking to me. I already have too many clothes that I don't wear, so I'm trying to follow the mantra that if I'm not 100% in love, then I send it back.

Verdict: Returned

5. Amanda Uprichard Elza Dress--$188

So, first the positive of this dress. I liked the scuba material. After that, it went downhill. Although you can't see it in this picture, I only have this zipped up about 1/3 of the way. If I was able to zip it up the whole way, there would be no breathing. I know this was another attempt to give me "birthday sexy," but this was not me at all. It was another super dressy dress that would have been something to wear to a wedding.

Verdict: Returned

I'm not sure if I'm just super picky or what, but my Fixes lately have been pretty meh. I still get excited every month to receive one, but this is the second time out of three months that I haven't kept anything, so I lost my $20 styling fee.

I've had a good run with my current stylist, but I think it's time to try someone new for some fresh eyes. We'll see how my October Fix turns out with someone new.

If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix, it's a service where a stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing for you, based on an extensive profile that you complete. You pay $20 for the service, but if you keep something, that $20 will be deducted from your bill. If you purchase all 5 pieces, you receive a 25% discount.

If you would like to give it a try, here's my referral link. If you use my link, I'll get $25 toward my next Fix.

Happy Shopping!
