Stitch Fix Men Review #3--March 2017

Happy Memorial Day! My husband will soon be getting his summer Fix, so I thought I better get on the ball and post his spring Fix.

For this Fix, he (and by he, I mean, I) asked for cozy sweaters and for a dressy, but casual, athletic cut tee.
Fix #3 had a variety of pieces.

1. Toms Ash Aviator Lace-Up Shoe--$98

Although he wasn't really looking for shoes, these are super versatile and were very comfortable. He's already worn them with both shorts and jeans for a dressy casual look.

Verdict: Kept

2. Grayers Brenton Slub Cotton Sweater--$98

This sweater was "meh." It really wasn't him. Stripes aren't his thing.

Verdict: Returned

3. Commerce La Grande Cotton Cashmere V-Neck Sweater--$58

This was a really nice sweater, and we both really liked it. It was just a smidge too short for it to be comfortable though.

Verdict: Returned

4. Scotch & Soda Distillery One Pocket Tee--$48

While I appreciate the stylist sending a casual dressy black tee like we requested, this was what Larry called, a "smedium." It was a little TOO fitted, and just looked too tight.

Verdict: Returned

5. Threads 4 Thought Standard Pigment Dyed One Pocket Tee--$44

This was a plain 'ol long sleeve tee. Nothing special. Meh

Verdict: Returned

This was Larry's third Fix, and he's already asked how many more of these does he have to do, so we may take a break after one full year. Although this was only a 1/5, the shoes were pretty nice, so  don't consider it a bust.

If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix Men, it's a service where a stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing for you, based on an extensive profile that you complete. You pay $20 for the service, but if you keep something, that $20 will be deducted from your bill. If you purchase all 5 pieces, you receive a 25% discount.

Stitch Fix Review #35--March 2017

This is my March Stitch Fix review...in May. I am soooo behind in my posts, but I have several other irons in the fire that are taking up the majority of my time right now. If you want to see what else I've been up to, follow my Facebook page, Mrs. Pennsylvania American Beauty 2017. :)

Anyway, here's my belated March Stitch Fix review:

For this Fix, I asked for spring pieces, since the weather was starting to warm up in PA.

1. Beauport Maria Textured Knit Dress--$78

This dress was fine. But just fine...nothing special about it, and I have other dresses that I like better. Plus, it looked like I had a black widow spider marking across my abdomen.

Verdict: Returned

2. 41Hawthorn Crue Belted Trench Jacket--$98

When I saw this in my Fix, I thought "Oh great, the last thing I need is another jacket." Well, I was wrong, I DID need another jacket. This fit great, and was a really high-quality trench. Although you can't see from the photo, it's fully lined, and it has just the right amount of stretch to it.

Verdict: Kept
P.S. Since getting this jacket in March, I've worn it almost weekly. It's perfect for both work, and casual weekends.

3. Market & Spruce Abberley Cut Out Detail Knit Top--$48

Front of the top

And the back.
It's a striped top. It's meh. I have a lot of navy striped tops, so this one wasn't worth keeping.

Verdict: Returned

4. Tinsel Dina Cargo Skinny Pant--$58

5. Fun2Fun Cueto Pleat Front Blouse--$44

So, these pants. They're flesh colored. And they're skinny jeans. So it looks like they are sausage casing for my legs. Let's just say these were a solid "no."

The top, again, was okay. It was a flowered top. Nothing special, and it was a little short waisted for me.

Verdict: Both returned

This was my 35th Fix, and I feel like I've been getting a lot more misses than hits lately, so I decided to pair down my Fixes from monthly to every other month. My next Fix will be here in May, so if anything, I'll have even more time to procrastinate between blog posts.

On a side note, I have really been enjoying using LeTote, because I have more freedom to pick the things that I want, and I can get a tote as frequently as I would like. Maybe it's just the control freak in me. If you're interested in LeTote, here is a blog post where I reviewed my tote. It's also gives more of an explanation of the service.

If you are interested in trying Stitch Fix (maybe you'll have better luck), here are the deets. It's a service where a stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing for you, based on an extensive profile that you complete. You pay $20 for the service, but if you keep something, that $20 will be deducted from your bill. If you purchase all 5 pieces, you receive a 25% discount.

Stitch Fix Review #34--February 2017

I'm trying to get caught up on my Stitch Fix reviews. Thankfully, I'm only a few behind now. Hopefully, I'll be caught up soon. Now that the days are getting longer and it's nicer out, I'll be able to take my photos outside again (and not in my messy bedroom!)

For my February Fix, I asked for a long puffer coat because the zipper on my current one (that I love) broke. Here's what I got for Fix #34:

1. Papermoon Annebel Cross Front Knit Top--$44

I usually like cross front tops, but this color just washed me out, and the material seemed a bit thin and cheap.

Verdict: Returned

2. Market & Spruce Moni Dress--$68

This dress would be cute for spring, but it's February, so I'm not quite sure why they sent this to me now.

Verdict: Returned

3. Andrew Marc Savana Quilted Puffer Coat--$118

I did ask for a puffer coat for this Fix, and I appreciate my stylist sending me one, but this was just too thin to hold up to a Pennsylvania winter. It was more of a spring jacket.

Verdict: Returned

4. Loveappella Lylie Front Cutout Pullover Knit Top--$48

This was another one of those tops, similar to the Papermoon top, that the material was super thin. Plus, the cutout detail wasn't really practical at all. If I wore this, I'd be accidentally flashing people all day.

Verdict: Returned

5. Leota Nico Faux Wrap Jersey Dress--$88

This was the only piece in my Fix that I considered keeping, but I already have several blue and white wrap dresses, so I didn't really need another one.

Verdict: Returned

So, this Fix was another 0/5 for me. I'm not quite sure what's been happening with Stitch Fix lately, or if I'm just super picky, but I feel like I've really been getting some lackluster Fixes. Because of this, I've changed the timing of my Fixes to only receive one every other month from now on.

If you are interested in trying Stitch Fix (maybe you'll have better luck), here are the deets. It's a service where a stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing for you, based on an extensive profile that you complete. Stitch Fix Review #33--January 2017

I'm woefully behind on my Stitch Fix reviews. I got this Fix at the end of December, even though it was my January Fix. Apologies for the delay, and fingers crossed that I get my Februry and March reviews up soon!

For this Fix, I asked for a cozy, yet sparkly, sweater for New Year's Eve. We always just have a low-key evening for NYE, so I wanted to be comfy, yet festive. Check out my Fix #33:

There's a lot of burgundy and black in this Fix.
For the month of December, Stitch Fix was including a scratch-off ticket in all Fixes. I had the potential to win a Stitch Fix gift card.
Womp! Womp! No winner for me this time.

 1. Gilli Jasmine Printed Pencil Skirt--$48

Sorry for the messy room pictures, but the weather in Pennsylvania in December isn't conducive to taking photos outside.

This skirt wasn't bad, but it was unlined, and just a bit too similar to other skirts that I have in my closet. I just felt it wasn't worth keeping.

Verdict: Returned

2. Erica Taylor Karen Printed Straight Leg Pant--$88

These are really similar in style to the Emers that are really popular with Stitch Fix. I have several pairs of Emers, and I love them. These Erica Taylor pants were no exception. They are comfy, and are great to wear with boots for the winter.

Verdict: Kept

3. Skies are Blue Medea Cut Out Sleeve Pullover Sweater--$68

I appreciate my stylist finding me cozy, yet festive, sweaters for NYE, but the contrast between my (very pale) skin and the sweater wasn't doing it for me. It was cute, but not for me.

Verdict: Returned

4. Dee Elly Clare Lace Up Front Pullover--$64

This sweater just wasn't flattering on me. It was too bulky and oversized, and made me look dumpy. Plus, the lace-up necklace made me feel like a pirate. On the plus side, this sweater was really soft.

Verdict: Returned

5. Brixon Ivy Petey Beaded Cable Front Pullover--$68

Now this is what I had in mind for NYE. We typically just stay in and eat, drink, and play on the Xbox. I wanted to be festive, yet still cozy, and this fit the bill. I actually ended up wearing this for our New Year's Eve festivities.

Verdict: Kept

This Fix was a 2/5 for me, which I consider a win, because I've been striking out lately with Stitch Fix.

If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix, it's a service where a stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing for you, based on an extensive profile that you complete. FabFitFun Review--Winter 2016

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. For this post, I have something a bit different. I've done my very first unboxing video of the FabFitFun Winter 2016 box. My video savvy daughter helped me with it, and hopefully, I'll get a bit smoother with these as time goes on.

If you're not familiar with FabFitFun, it's a  quarterly subscription box service where you get full-size quality items for a fraction of the cost--all with the theme of receiving things that are Fab, Fit, and Fun. It's $49.99 for a box, and they send out boxes in September, December, March, and June. You can also sign up for a select membership, which is $179.99 for the year, and you have the opportunity to personalize some of your items. The retail price of all of the items that you receive in your box is usually in the $200+ range.

The Winter 2016 box is the third box that I've received, but my first as a select member. Below is my unboxing video, but I've also posted below it an overview of what I received.

FabFitFun Winter 2016 Box Review

The box is always a super cute design, and everything is packaged really well. It also comes with a booklet that tells you a bit more about the items that you received in your box.

1. D.L. & Co Candle--$45

The Blackberry Nectar-scented candle smelled really nice, plus it's a soy-blend candle. As a select member, I had the opportunity to choose this scent or the Bergamot Woods. I went with the blackberry smell, rather than the woodsy smell. The candle holder is also really decorative.

2. Starlight Children's Foundation--FabFitFun Charity
This pin was a nice surprise. It's to support the Starlight Children's Foundation, which is FabFitFun's charity. Starlight's mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children.

3. O.R.G. Skincare Mineral Peel Face--$44

I've used this several times already, and it's pretty nice. It's in a spray bottle, and after I spray it on and wash it off, my skin does feel smoother.

4. Marie Mae Company Thank You Card Set--$24

These are really cute thank-you notes for those times when you need to send a thank you in a pinch. Since they say "Cheers" on the front, these would be more for my personal life, than when I need a professional thank you note.

5. Anderson Lilley Beach Butter Body Cream--$24

I love this cream! It's really thick and is great for the winter, since my skin gets so dry. There were two scent options available--the Winter in Manhattan Beach and Sicilian Tangerine. I just got this particular scent at random, and if given the choice, I probably wouldn't have chosen this one, but I do really like it.

6. Butter London Iconoclast Mega Volume Lacquer Mascara--$20
I've been using this mascara almost daily since I've received it. There is a bulb shape at the end of the wand that catches and separates your lashes that I really like. I would have never tried this mascara if it wasn't for FabFitFun, so that's a win!

7. Moleskine 2017 Weekly Planner--$20.95
I use my phone for most of my info, but I've been using this planner to keep track of my expenses (one of my 2017 resolutions). There's something satisfying about using an old-school planner. Plus, it comes with fun stickers to keep track of birthdays, etc. This planner came in both purple and green, but as a select member, I got to choose my color.

8.  Gorjana Necklace--$75

I love Gorjana jewelry, so I was excited to see I was getting some in this box. I had a choice of this gold lariat necklace or a silver double pendant necklace. I've worn this necklace a few times, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. The necklace gets all twisted up and is almost impossible to untwist. I almost had to break it to get it off, because I couldn't get it untwisted to slide the lariat down to get it off my neck. It's a cute necklace, but if I paid $75 for it, I would have been disappointed.

9. Bonus add-on: Armpocket Arm Band for iPhone--$14

This was an add-on that I added to my box. A few weeks before the boxes ship, you get the opportunity to purchase add-ons to your box that are in addition to the price of your box. The add-on are items you can get at a discount. I think the retail price for this armband is in the $20 range. I've been wanting one of these for a while, so I grabbed it when I had the chance.

Overall, I have been pleased with this box. I've used everything that I've gotten. The total retail price of the box is $252.95 (minus my add-on), so $49.99 is a pretty good deal. If you'd like to give FabFitFun a try, here's my referral link.

Happy 2017, and happy shopping!

Stitch Fix 2016 Review

Since 2016 is coming to an end, I thought I would do a quick review of the Stitch Fix pieces that I've kept in 2016. I started Rocker Mom Diary in July, so I really only have 6 months to review, but hopefully in 2017, I'll have a full year to summarize.

In looking at the pieces that I've kept, I really had some bummer Fixes the second half of 2016. Prior to my blog, I was actually keeping a lot of the pieces. Maybe blogging about my Fixes jinxed me! Here's a review of 2016:

1. July: I kept 0/5. Boo!

2. August: it was a 1/5.

  •  Donna Morgan Behati Jersey Faux Wrap Dress--$128
I've actually worn this a few times. It's a versatile piece, and you can't go wrong with a wrap dress.

3. September: another 0/5 *sigh*

4. October: it's a 2/5!

  • 41Hawthorn Gideon Polka Dot Sweater--$68

I've worn this a few times, but not as often as I thought I would. I think I need to figure out how to style it better.

  • BC Footwear Band II Foldover Bootie--$90

I wear these all.the.time!! They look great with jeans, or with a skirt and some tights.

5. November: another 1/5

  • Emily Rose Armstrong Zipper Detail Cowl Neck Pullover--$58

I like this sweater well enough. It's not one of my go-to pieces, but it's cute. (Notice I'm wearing the foldover booties. :) )

6. December: (yet) another 1/5

  • Market & Spruce Evella Boatneck Top--$64

I haven't worn this top yet, because I feel like it's more of a springtime piece, so I can't really give a verdict on it yet. (Foldover booties alert!)

Out of 30 pieces that I received over the past six Fixes, I've kept 5. So, I've kept about 17% of the pieces that they sent. It'll be interesting to compare that to next year.

If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix, it's a service where a stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing for you, based on an extensive profile that you complete. You pay $20 for the service, but if you keep something, that $20 will be deducted from your bill. If you purchase all 5 pieces, you receive a 25% discount.

If you would like to give it a try, here's my referral link. If you use my link, I'll get $25 toward my next Fix.

Stitch Fix Men Review #2--December 2016

Happy holidays! It's been 3 months, so it's time for another Mens' Stitch Fix review with my reluctant model, my husband.

For this Fix, he actually made a request, and asked for an athletic cut tee that could be worn with jeans or shorts for an evening out. I also asked for sweaters, because this Fix would be arriving in December, and loafers, because he needs shoes to wear with jeans when we're going out.

Without further ado, Fix #2:

I like how they change up the packaging to cater to their market. The clothes come wrapped in brown craft paper, and the style cards are in a much more masculine envelope.

1. Flag & Anthem Bedford Indigo Dye Colorblock Tee--$34.50

He asked for an athletic cut tee for jeans, but this was a bit more casual than what we both had in mind. Plus, it wasn't very fitted.

Verdict: Returned

2. Hawker Rye Essential Wash Long Sleeve Shirt--$58

This shirt wasn't bad, but he actually got a button-up shirt in his last two Fixes and kept them both. He really didn't need another button-up shirt, plus this one didn't fit as well as some of the other ones he kept.

Verdict: Debated, but returned

3. Mavi Warren PU bomber Jacket--$108

That's me in the background. :)
This jacket wasn't bad, but he got a genuine leather moto jacket from the Lancaster outlets last year that fits a lot better (and it was actually was less expensive).

Verdict: Returned

4. Tailor Vintage Rambler French Terry Raglan Sweatshirt--$98

5. Mavi Jake Slim Leg Jean--$98

This sweatshirt was just okay, and definitely for the price, it wasn't worth it. And what to say about these jeans. To quote my husband, "I'm wearing leggings." He's not a skinny jeans guy.
Checking out his butt in his leggings.
Verdict: Both returned

Unfortunately, this Fix was a 0/5. He didn't get any of his requests, and got more jeans and button-up shirts, which he got in previous Fixes. He's going to give it another go in March, but sadly, I lost my $20 fee this time around.

If you would like to give it a try, here's my referral link. If you use this link, my husband will get $25 toward his next Fix.
